The Egyptian Association for Cognitive & Behavioral Therapy

The Egyptian Association of CBT (EACBT) was founded in 2013 by Dr. Reham Aly. Dr. Aly was complemented by a prestigious assembly of professors of psychiatry, young psychiatrists and mental health professionals from the very first beginning. Upon agreeing on the aim, objectives and scope of the association Dr. Aly discussed the project with Prof. Ahmed Okasha, MD, Ph.D. (the founder of modern psychiatry in Egypt) who, upon considering the EACBT vision, generously agreed to honour the association as the Honorary President. The list of founding members of the association then extended to include some of the imminent psychiatrists from different universities in Egypt, young psychiatrists and psychologists, all with special dedication to CBT. Upon its establishment, Dr. Aly was nominated the president, honoured by the complimentary presidency of Prof. Okasha.

The executive office then started pursuing its goals in disseminating CBT across Egypt and providing a structured education route to teach and practice CBT for Egyptian mental health professionals, psychiatrists, and psychologists and others. During the very first 5 years, the EACBT had successfully conducted many activities of training workshops, symposiums and an annual CBT congress that is well received in Egypt and all across the Arab world, and a structured certificate for educating, training and accreditation of CBT therapists that has now welcomed their 3rd class.

Till date, the EACBT has always been dedicated to science, ethics and productivity. Our heart is always filled with gratitude to everyone who shared the dream and cooperated to the goal. It is only due to this that we were able to be here.

Thank you,
The Egyptian Association for Cognitive & Behavioral Therapy
